A 36-year-old technology professional from Kerala, GS Sharanya, was successfully located on Sunday after a three-day extensive search operation when she went missing while trekking at Tadiandamol Peak in the Kodagu district. She was discovered in an abandoned temple within the forest later in the evening.<\/p>\n
During a press conference, Eshwar Khandre, the Forest, Ecology, and Environment Minister, announced that he had spoken with Sharanya, confirming her good health and lack of any complications.<\/p>\n
The minister\u2019s office released a photograph of Sharanya alongside four rescuers who assisted in her recovery. According to reports, local residents from a nearby tribal settlement alerted the rescue teams after spotting Sharanya the previous day.<\/p>\n
Sharanya was last seen on April 2, 2026, while undertaking a 4-kilometer trek to Tadiandamol Peak, which stands at 1,748 meters and is the third highest in Karnataka. This trek was part of a group that included 15 participants along with a licensed nature guide.<\/p>\n
After she failed to return to the base, it was reported that Sharanya had communicated via phone with her team, indicating that she was lost and unable to navigate her way back. The Forest Department initiated a search operation at approximately 2 PM on April 2, collaborating with local police. The efforts quickly escalated into a comprehensive mission, involving around 70 personnel from various agencies, including the police, Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), forest officials, and community volunteers.<\/p>\n
Twelve specialized search teams were established to thoroughly explore the area. The Forest Department utilized advanced technology such as thermal imaging drones, mobile tracking, analysis of call data records, and sniffer dogs in the search efforts. Coordination among local tribes and forest officials played a crucial role in the successful operation.<\/p>\n
