A tragic incident occurred in Khanawdi village near Saswad, Pune district, where a 22-year-old college student was killed. Following the event, the Pune rural police apprehended a suspect, Aniket Jadhav, who turned himself in after the crime on April 1.<\/p>\n
The victim was a third-year Bachelor of Science student attending a college in Saswad. An official complaint was filed by her father, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at the Saswad police station.<\/p>\n
On April 1, the student left for her college but did not return home. Concerned family members searched for her but were unable to locate her, prompting them to seek assistance from law enforcement. Tragically, she was later discovered deceased, with visible injuries, in a remote area of Khanawdi that evening.<\/p>\n
Investigators revealed that Aniket and the victim were acquaintances from the same locality. They had been in a romantic relationship, but her family had advised her to end contact with him due to his alleged criminal history, according to police reports.<\/p>\n
Authorities indicated that Aniket had contacted the victim by phone on the evening of April 1 after she had left college. He reportedly lured her to Khanawdi under the pretense of wanting to talk. However, during their encounter, he became violent, allegedly assaulting her and ultimately strangling her to death out of jealousy, suspecting her of communicating with someone else.<\/p>\n
Aniket Jadhav later surrendered to the police, who have since placed him in custody until April 7 for ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n
Police Inspector Kumar Kadam noted that the suspect had a prior criminal history, having been involved in cases related to mobile theft and molestation.<\/p>\n
