President Trump has been vocal about his demands for Iran to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz\u2014 a crucial maritime corridor that previously facilitated over 20% of global energy shipments before the conflict escalated. He has threatened to target Iranian energy installations and civilian infrastructure, imposing a deadline of 8:00 PM ET on Tuesday (5:30 AM IST on Wednesday) for compliance.<\/p>\n
In a provocative statement, Trump declared, \u201cTuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it! Open the Strait, or you\u2019ll be living in Hell \u2013 JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.\u201d<\/p>\n
Iran effectively obstructed access to this strategic waterway following a U.S.-Israeli attack on February 28, which has led to a significant global energy crisis. Fatih Birol, the head of the International Energy Agency, stated that this crisis surpasses the severity of the oil crises experienced in the 1970s.<\/p>\n
Previous reports indicated that a peace plan framework, allegedly developed by Pakistan, was shared with both the U.S. and Iran to end the conflict. However, Iran characterized the negotiations as being incompatible with the ultimatums and threats of potential war crimes.<\/p>\n
Tehran rejected the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which remains a top priority for Trump, emphasizing that it would not abide by any deadlines while considering the proposal.<\/p>\n
The Iranian government aims for a permanent ceasefire with assurances against future attacks by the U.S. and Israel. The proposed framework suggested a dual approach, initiating immediate ceasefire discussions while working towards a broader settlement to be concluded within a timeframe of 15 to 20 days, as reported by Reuters.<\/p>\n
Last week, Islamabad hosted high-level discussions involving representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt in an attempt to ease tensions, but Iran chose not to attend these talks.<\/p>\n

The IRGC stated that the Strait of Hormuz would \u201cnever return to its former state,\u201d particularly for U.S. and Israeli forces.
