In his statements, Dennis highlighted feelings of being “harassed” and “stalked” by the press since the incident. Melissa Hoskins tragically passed away in December 2023 after being struck by a vehicle operated by Dennis, who subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of causing harm.<\/p>\n
In May 2025, he received a suspended sentence and was prohibited from driving for five years. During last year’s sentencing, District Court Judge Ian Press remarked that Dennis was not criminally responsible for his wife’s death. The court had previously noted that a dispute over home renovations preceded the incident, prompting Dennis to leave their home to allow both parties to cool down.<\/p>\n
In a recent social media post, Dennis described his wife’s death as an accident and emphasized his love for her, stating that he never intended to cause her harm. He firmly denied any allegations of physical aggression, emphasizing that he has always opposed abuse, especially against women, including the mother of his children.<\/p>\n
Dennis criticized the media for perpetuating a narrative that painted him as an abusive husband. He recounted a disturbing encounter with reporters at the airport following Hoskins’s funeral, where he felt disrespected in front of his young daughter. He expressed frustration over the media’s contradictory behavior, claiming they profess concern for his children while simultaneously invading their privacy.<\/p>\n
This marks the first time Dennis has publicly commented on the death of his wife, apart from a letter of apology that was presented in court. Recently, the ABC reported on a social media post by Dennis that included a car with the caption “what an absolute weapon.” Although this vehicle was not involved in the incident with Hoskins, Victims Rights Commissioner Sarah Quick deemed the post “deeply offensive.”<\/p>\n
After the ABC reached out for his comments on the post, Dennis did not respond initially.
