He announced that Metro Line 9, which will link Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar, is expected to be operational by the end of this year. Additionally, the entire Metro Line 2B, which spans 23.45 kilometers from DN Nagar in Andheri to Mandale in Mankhurd, is projected to be available for public use by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement was made during the inauguration of two segments of Line 9 and Line 2B. In attendance were Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, who also participated in the launch of tunneling operations for the Thane-Borivali twin tunnels and the groundbreaking ceremony for the pod taxi project at the Bandra Kurla Complex.<\/p>\n<p>Fadnavis highlighted the enhanced connectivity that Line 9 will provide to Colaba, noting its integration with Line 7 and transfers to Lines 1 and 3.<\/p>\n<p>At the Diamond Garden station on Metro Line 2B, where five stations leading to Mandale were inaugurated, Fadnavis indicated that the next section of the east-west line to be completed will connect DN Nagar in Andheri to Saraswat Nagar in Khar. The final phase of the 23.45-kilometer line is slated to be operational by 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Metro depot located in Mandale, covering over 30 hectares, serves as the backbone for this essential line, featuring two levels with 36 stabilization tracks each,\u201d Fadnavis remarked while laying the foundation for the BKC pod taxi project.<\/p>\n<p>During the visit to the Thane construction site for the 11.84-kilometer Thane-Borivali twin tunnels, the Chief Minister and his deputies activated the cutterhead of Nayak, the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) set to commence tunneling.<\/p>\n<p>Fadnavis stated, \u201cWhat currently takes 90 minutes will be reduced to just 15 minutes by May 2028, resulting in savings on fuel and a decrease in pollution, all while preserving the biodiversity of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.\u201d He also mentioned plans for compensatory afforestation involving 11,000 trees. \u201cWith connectivity to the Thane Coastal Road, this initiative will alleviate traffic congestion on Ghodbundar Road, the Western Express Highway, and the routes between Mumbai and Thane,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Details of the Metro lines inaugurated today include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Metro Line 2B:<\/strong> Connecting DN Nagar to Mandale, with a distance of 5.53 km. The stations inaugurated include Mandale, Mankhurd Interchange Harbour Line, BSNL Metro, Shivaji Chowk, and Diamond Garden Interchange Monorail. The total length is 23.63 km with 20 stations, linking Andheri, BKC, Kurla, Chembur, and Mankhurd, with a projected completion by 2027, costing \u20b910,986 crore, and an expected daily ridership of 8.9 lakh, increasing to 10.5 lakh by 2031.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Metro Line 9:<\/strong> Connecting Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar, covering a distance of 4.5 km. The stations inaugurated include Dahisar Interchange Line 2A, Pandurang Wadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon.
