The Supreme Court is scheduled to review a petition on April 10 from a father who claims that the Ghaziabad Police have inadequately investigated the alleged rape and murder of his four-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n
During a session on Tuesday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant informed senior advocate N. Hariharan, who represents the father, that the court would listen to his arguments before determining the appropriate course of action.<\/p>\n
In his request for an expedited hearing, Hariharan emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, \u201cThis case demands urgent attention. It involves the rape and murder of a four-year-old child. Notably, while the autopsy indicates aggravated sexual assault, there has been no investigation focused on the rape aspect. An FIR related to Section 302 was only registered after significant pressure was applied. This situation merits serious consideration.\u201d<\/p>\n
When CJI inquired about the identity of the petitioner, Hariharan confirmed, \u201cThe petitioner is the father of the child.\u201d He further expressed his concern, asserting, \u201cAt this rate, My Lord, no child is safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hariharan continued to stress the need for immediate action, stating, \u201cThis requires urgent attention\u2026 I am requesting a transfer of the investigation. There has been no substantive inquiry thus far\u2026 Your Lordships must hear my plea. I intend to demonstrate the current state of affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n
After setting the next hearing for Friday, the CJI remarked, \u201cWe will need to hear your arguments before we can issue any orders.\u201d<\/p>\n
