On Tuesday evening, a short period of rain coupled with strong winds offered some respite to certain regions of Gujarat, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a return to hot and humid conditions over the weekend. A yellow alert has been issued for the state, effective from April 11 to 13.<\/p>\n
The IMD warned that discomfort from the hot and humid air is expected to persist in the coastal regions of Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch during this period.<\/p>\n
The rainfall observed on Tuesday was attributed to a Western Disturbance along with a cyclonic circulation affecting northeast Pakistan and adjacent areas of Afghanistan. Notably, Sethamba in Aravalli recorded the highest precipitation at 30 mm, while 37 talukas experienced rainfall between 2 PM and 6 PM. Mansa in Gandhinagar saw 26 mm of rain, followed by Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha with 23 mm, and Vijapur in Mehsana and Talod in Sabarkantha, each receiving 18 mm.<\/p>\n
Thanks to the light rain and overcast conditions during the day, maximum temperatures across most of Gujarat were reported below the average for this time of year on Tuesday. Amreli recorded the highest temperature at 36.7 degrees Celsius, which is 3.3 degrees below normal levels.<\/p>\n
Other temperature readings included Ahmedabad at 36.6 degrees Celsius (3.9 degrees below normal), Rajkot at 36.5 degrees Celsius (2.5 degrees below normal), Bhavnagar at 35.1 degrees Celsius (2.5 degrees below normal), and Gandhinagar at 35.4 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees below normal).<\/p>\n
