For Lalita, a door-to-door beautician and a single mother, this marked the culmination of a year and a half of tireless efforts to uncover the truth, including acquiring the video evidence and tracing the truck’s details through the Regional Transport Office. The decision to reopen the case has brought her significant relief, especially after the police had previously filed a closure report.<\/p>\n Kshitij was fatally injured by a dumper truck at approximately 2:45 a.m. while he and a friend, Jeet Nayak, were walking in Prem Nagar towards Dehradun. Nayak promptly contacted emergency services, and Kshitij was taken to Doon Hospital and later referred to AIIMS Hospital, Rishikesh, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 17 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n Lalita’s quest for answers began shortly after Kshitij\u2019s last rites. On February 19, she visited the police station to file a complaint.<\/p>\n After enduring a frustrating wait, Lalita took the initiative. Thirteen days after her son\u2019s death, she revisited the accident site. \u201cI completed all the prayers, seeking peace for him, but I was determined to seek justice. The sight of his blood on the road devastated me, yet I continued searching for any leads,\u201d the 43-year-old reflected.<\/p>\n Despite the disruption to her daily life and work, Lalita remained relentless in her pursuit of the truth.<\/p>\n Yet, this information was still insufficient. One day, she noticed a previously overlooked detail: a warehouse equipped with a camera facing the road. In mid-2024, three months after obtaining the footage, Lalita attempted to trace the truck independently. Despite her efforts to submit the footage to the police, progress was minimal.<\/p>\n Months passed without any developments. Then, in October of the previous year, she learned that a final closure report had been filed because the investigating officer claimed he could not locate the truck driver. \u201cI felt helpless.
