The alleged crime occurred shortly before Sarangi visited his daughter around 11:00 am, ostensibly to deliver jewelry and cash. According to police reports, the argument between Sarangi and Priyambada escalated, leading him to fatally slash her throat with a kitchen knife. After committing the act, he made his way to the Airfield Police Station at approximately 11:45 am, where he confessed to the murder, prompting an immediate investigation.<\/p>\n
Sources indicate that Debaraj and Priyambada had been married for nearly three decades and resided in an upscale neighborhood in Bhubaneswar. Sarangi had been employed as a senior accountant at the Accountant General’s office until his retirement two years ago.<\/p>\n
Preliminary findings suggest that Sarangi’s mental health had been declining, with reports of depression alongside chronic health issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and liver problems. Police believe these factors may have contributed to his sudden and violent outburst against his wife.<\/p>\n
Following his confession, Sarangi was taken into custody and subsequently presented before a court. A murder case has been initiated based on the complaint filed by his daughter. Investigators have recovered the weapon used in the crime, along with two mobile phones found at the scene, as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n
