FINANCIAL CHRONICLE \u2013 The no-confidence motion introduced by the opposition party, Samagi Jana Balawegaya, in Sri Lanka\u2019s parliament was ultimately rejected. A total of 104 out of the 225 assembly members cast their votes in favor of the government\u2019s Energy Minister, Punya Sri Kumara Jayakody.<\/p>\n
The no-confidence motion was based on accusations of misconduct in coal procurement and referred to indictments lodged in the Colombo High Court under the Bribery Act, concerning alleged corrupt practices in procurement at Lanka Fertilizer Company.<\/p>\n
