This innovation allows passengers to pay their fares using cards, QR codes, and contactless payment methods.<\/p>\n
This partnership aligns with the Government’s Digital Ticketing Initiative, representing one of the first substantial implementations of integrated digital fare collection in the private passenger transport sector of Sri Lanka. By incorporating ticketing devices with secure payment processing and automated settlement through the Bank\u2019s acquiring network, the program seeks to minimize cash reliance, boost operational efficiency, and promote transparency in fare collection.<\/p>\n
As part of this collaboration, bus conductors at NCG Express will be equipped with digital ticketing devices that integrate Commercial Bank\u2019s payment solutions. When a passenger boards a bus, the conductor inputs the fare into the device, allowing the passenger to complete the payment by tapping a debit or credit card, using a mobile wallet like Google Pay, or scanning a QR code. Payments are processed in real-time through the Bank\u2019s secure network, providing immediate confirmation and facilitating efficient fare collection.<\/p>\n
The introduction of this digital ticketing system offers numerous benefits to passengers, including the convenience of cashless transactions, the removal of the necessity for exact change, and quicker, contactless payments. The digital records generated enhance trust in the ticketing process and provide a modernized travel experience that meets international standards.<\/p>\n
