In the Alluri Sitharama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh, three young girls lost their lives while attempting to take a selfie. The tragic event took place on Thursday, immediately after the summer holidays commenced at their school.<\/p>\n
As reported by PTI, a group of four girls from Ananthagiri village visited a waterfall in Moolagummi village following the end of their school term. According to police reports, the girls fell into the water while trying to take a photograph. It has been noted that none of the girls had swimming skills. The fourth girl, who survived the incident, is currently receiving medical attention.<\/p>\n
Authorities indicated that even though the waterfall is relatively small, it can be hazardous for individuals lacking swimming proficiency. An investigation has been initiated by the police, and they are in the process of filing a case under applicable legal provisions.<\/p>\n
In a separate incident that occurred in late March, three engineering students from a private institution drowned in the Godavari River in Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh. A group of seven students from a university in Amaravati entered the river, mistakenly believing it to be shallow. Police confirmed that two students who possessed swimming abilities were able to reach safety, while the remaining students were caught in the strong currents. Initially, two individuals were reported as missing.<\/p>\n
The students had entered the water as part of a photoshoot for Ugadi celebrations. After participating in prayers at the Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam in Bhadraachalam on Thursday, they continued their festivities at the Kollugudem sand ramp on Friday. It was at this location that they decided to extend their time together and subsequently ventured into the river.<\/p>\n
Reports indicate that the group initially took photographs on the shore before entering the water for their photoshoot, during which the unfortunate incident occurred. One student remained on the shore while another entered the river, and it was the student who stayed back who was among the two survivors.<\/p>\n
