“In my 33 years of service, I’ve encountered this situation only once. After the government was established in 2023, a leader expressed his preference against appointing a woman secretary to oversee his department. It was quite shocking,” Mhaiskar stated.<\/p>\n
She emphasized that such perspectives are surprising, especially as gender biases in administration have largely diminished. Mhaiskar noted that this viewpoint effectively excluded her from consideration for that particular role.<\/p>\n
Although the government has not yet issued a formal response to her comments, the revelation has attracted attention, particularly given its ties to the ruling Mahayuti coalition, led by Devendra Fadnavis, along with his deputies Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar.<\/p>\n
While Mhaiskar did not disclose the name of the minister involved, her remarks have ignited speculation among political analysts. She mentioned that this incident was unique in her extensive career, wherein she has otherwise not experienced gender-based discrimination as a female officer.<\/p>\n
During the interview, Mhaiskar also highlighted the significance of effective time management, prioritization, and teamwork, noting that successful administrative outcomes rely on the collaborative efforts of officers with their teams.
