In a series of statements shared on X, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of Parliament, noted that the Iranian team had proposed \u201cforward-thinking initiatives\u201d throughout the lengthy discussions, yet the U.S. ultimately failed to establish the necessary trust during this round of talks.<\/p>\n
Ghalibaf stated, \u201cPrior to the negotiations, I made it clear that we possess the goodwill and determination required; however, our past experiences from two previous conflicts have led us to distrust the opposing side.\u201d<\/p>\n
He further remarked, \u201cThe United States has grasped our rationale and principles, and it is now up to them to determine if they can gain our confidence.\u201d Additionally, Ghalibaf expressed gratitude towards Pakistan, a \u201cfriendly and brotherly nation,\u201d for its role in facilitating the negotiations.<\/p>\n
Earlier reports from Iranian state media indicated that key contentious issues included Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
