This week, West Bengal is experiencing a typical April weather pattern, characterized by a slow increase in temperatures, predominantly clear skies in the southern regions, and sporadic rain in the hilly areas. While the plains are preparing for heightened heat and humidity, the northern districts are still witnessing occasional rainfall and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n
Over the next few days, temperatures throughout the state are anticipated to rise by 2-3\u00b0C. In the western regions of Bengal, conditions are expected to become notably warm, with daytime highs potentially reaching between 38\u00b0C and 39\u00b0C. Although there are currently no warnings for heatwaves, the combination of rising temperatures and high humidity may create uncomfortable afternoon conditions.<\/p>\n
Kolkata is expected to have mostly clear skies during the day, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The maximum temperature is projected to be around 35\u00b0C, with a minimum of approximately 27\u00b0C. High humidity levels will likely make it feel warmer. There has been no recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours, and dry weather is expected to persist. As the week progresses, temperatures may continue to rise, with partly cloudy afternoons becoming increasingly common.<\/p>\n
Most districts, including Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Nadia, and East Midnapore, are likely to remain dry. In contrast, western districts such as Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, West Midnapore, Birbhum, and certain areas of West Bardhaman may encounter isolated light rain or thunderstorms starting midweek.<\/p>\n
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted hot and humid weather for various districts, particularly from April 14 onwards. In regions like Jhargram, Purulia, and Bankura, there is a chance of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40-50 km\/h and lightning on specific days. Residents are urged to limit their time in direct sunlight during late morning and afternoon hours and to stay well-hydrated.<\/p>\n
North Bengal districts, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri, are expected to experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in various locations throughout the week. Alipurduar and Cooch Behar may see lighter and more sporadic rainfall.<\/p>\n
Thunderstorm activity is predicted to remain prevalent in the hills, with the IMD warning of gusty winds of 30-40 km\/h and lightning in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri over the next few days. Citizens are advised to seek shelter during storms and avoid open fields and structures that may be at risk.<\/p>\n
Initially, districts such as Malda, North Dinajpur, and South Dinajpur are expected to remain mostly dry, although isolated rain may occur later in the week.<\/p>\n
As the week progresses, temperatures across the state are set to steadily rise by 2-3\u00b0C, with humidity increasing in the southern districts, while the northern areas continue to experience periodic rain and thunderstorms.<\/p>\n
