The rollout of PNG infrastructure is being actively pursued to offer residents a cooking fuel option that is deemed \u201csafer, more convenient, and efficient.\u201d Currently, PNG is fully accessible in sectors 32 to 38, 40, 42 to 44, 46, and 48 to 51, while partial availability exists in sectors 10, 11, 17, 22, 26, 28, 30, 41, 47, as well as in Manimajra and Industrial Area Phases I and II, according to the administration’s statement.<\/p>\n
According to the Natural Gas and Petroleum Products Distribution (Through Laying, Building, Operation and Expansion of Pipelines and Other Facilities) Order, 2026, issued by the Government of India, LPG supply for domestic purposes will be discontinued three months following the notification of operational PNG infrastructure in specific areas.<\/p>\n
The UT Administration advised residents in fully covered sectors to make the switch to PNG as soon as possible. For those in partially covered sectors, it encouraged them to reach out to the service provider to explore connection possibilities. The administration emphasized that making the change promptly will help avoid any interruptions in cooking fuel supply once the three-month deadline passes.<\/p>\n
The advantages of transitioning from LPG to PNG include greater convenience and a reliable uninterrupted supply through an established pipeline network, eliminating the hassle of cylinder booking and refilling. PNG is considered safer as it is lighter than air, dispersing quickly in the event of a leak, which lowers the risk of fire. Additionally, it operates at a lower pressure and does not require bulky cylinder storage. Over time, it is also more cost-effective, utilizing a pay-as-you-use billing system without the need for deposits or refills. This ease of use is particularly beneficial for elderly residents and those living in apartments, as it alleviates the burden of handling heavy cylinders.<\/p>\n
