In a significant enforcement action as part of a summer initiative, the Pune Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a raid on Thursday to address the issue of adulterated food products within the district. Following reliable intelligence, officials uncovered a large-scale operation involved in the production of tainted mango pulp, leading to the confiscation of goods valued at \u20b92,23,196.<\/p>\n
The operation took place at a facility located in the Urse area of Maval, owned by Mohammad Ekramul, also known as Akram Gulam. During the inspection, authorities discovered that the facility was manufacturing mango pulp using unauthorized colorants and other adulterants. A total of six food samples were collected for laboratory testing, and 3,282.9 kilograms of contaminated mango pulp, raw mangoes, and associated materials were seized. The seized items, worth \u20b91,61,816, were subsequently destroyed due to their perishable nature.<\/p>\n
Further inquiries indicated that the compromised products were distributed to Avishkar Enterprises situated in Rakshewadi, Rajgurunagar, within the Khed Taluka. A subsequent inspection at this location resulted in the collection of an additional sample and the seizure of 558 kilograms of mango pulp valued at \u20b961,380.<\/p>\n
This entire operation was conducted under the oversight of senior officials from the FDA, including Assistant Commissioner N. R. Sarkate and Commissioner Shridhar Dube Patil, alongside a dedicated team of food safety officers.<\/p>\n

It is essential for fruit vendors and juice manufacturers to operate with a valid license. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, operating without a license could result in penalties of up to \u20b910 lakh,\u201d stated D.V.
