In a recent interview, Rajesh explained that he chose to sell his car, not due to financial difficulties, but rather to avoid the frustrations of Mumbai’s traffic, opting instead for public transportation.<\/p>\n
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rajesh ventured into agriculture; however, he admitted that his lack of understanding regarding the complexities of farming led to his financial struggles and subsequent debt accumulation. In a discussion with Aftab Puntoo on his YouTube channel, he reflected on how people used to perceive him when they saw him taking an auto rickshaw. \u201cWhen I stated that I had taken up farming and faced bankruptcy, people would comment on my choice of transport, saying, \u2018Bechara, he can\u2019t afford a car.\u2019 Now, after my efforts, they call me \u2018down to earth\u2019 when they see me in an auto,\u201d he chuckled.<\/p>\n
Rajesh clarified that his decision to sell his car was solely based on his preference for local transport due to traffic congestion. \u201cI sold my car because of the traffic situation. I rely on local transportation and utilize services like Ola or Uber for shoots. I prefer this method,\u201d he explained. He noted that he occasionally gets recognized by drivers, who sometimes ask for selfies. \u201cWhen they realize who I am, they often want to take a selfie. Even auto drivers recognize me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
When discussing his approach to transport, Rajesh emphasized that his priority is reaching his destination, regardless of the mode of transportation. He dismissed any notion of ego associated with his choices, stating, \u201cAre you mad?\u201d He pointed out that convenience should take precedence over ostentation, noting that owning an expensive car would not alleviate the frustration of being stuck in traffic.<\/p>\n
Rajesh frequently uses the metro, which is conveniently located near his home. He mentioned that encountering fans in the metro is not an issue for him, as people often approach him for conversations and photos, similar to experiences at the airport. \u201cIt\u2019s the same anywhere. Even abroad, members of the Indian community recognize me and ask for pictures. That\u2019s part of the job,\u201d he remarked. He concluded with the thought that one should not take themselves too seriously and that true happiness comes from within.<\/p>\n
In another interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rajesh expressed relief that most of his financial issues are behind him. \u201cI\u2019m out of that financial cycle now, with only about 10-15% of my debt remaining. Soon, I will surprise everyone with something new, still connected to farming, but unique,\u201d he shared. He also mentioned that both of his sisters, who previously held lucrative positions in Finland and the US, have returned to India to assist him with his agricultural endeavors, allowing him to focus on his acting career.<\/p>\n
Rajesh disclosed that following his newfound passion for agriculture, his sisters decided to support him. Around the time of his 50th birthday in January, his elder sister, who had been living in America, resigned from her job as a birthday gift to him and came to India. \u201cShe told me to take a backseat and concentrate on acting while she would manage the farming,\u201d he recounted. His younger sister also expressed her intention to join them in March after resigning from her job.<\/p>\n
Rajesh initially gained fame through “Sarabhai vs Sarabhai,” but faced significant financial difficulties due to his farming business in the years that followed. He previously shared that he even set up a vegetable stall outside his son’s school during tougher times, which coincided with his struggle to meet loan payments and accumulating debt. \u201cI had to leave the farm and walk away,\u201d he admitted, acknowledging that it took time for him to grasp the intricacies of farming.<\/p>\n
