As the first phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections approaches in less than ten days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a virtual meeting on Tuesday with BJP booth workers, providing them with guidance and a checklist of tasks.<\/p>\n
With the BJP targeting the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on the topic of “infiltration” from Bangladesh, the Prime Minister urged party workers to create videos illustrating the authentic Bengali language and discussing how it has been altered due to this infiltration. “Infiltrators pose a significant concern, leading to demographic and linguistic changes. While Bengal boasts a rich cultural heritage, the influx has hindered the preservation of the Bengali language. Produce videos showcasing the genuine Bengali dialect and contrast it with the current state affected by infiltration,” Modi instructed the workers through the NaMo app.<\/p>\n
During the “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” initiative, he also emphasized the importance of reassuring the Matua and Namasudra communities, who migrated from Bangladesh and faced issues during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, that they are integral members of the country. “The TMC has sown seeds of fear among the Matua and Namasudra communities, suggesting they could be expelled. These communities are part of our family, and no one should feel threatened. We must address this matter in three phases: first, the concerns arising from infiltrators; second, the misinformation spread; and third, providing these communities with assurances of their safety,” Modi stated, accusing the TMC of leveraging infiltrators as a source of votes.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister urged booth workers to engage with every individual in their neighborhoods and organize meetings to familiarize people with the BJP’s manifesto. “I have spoken to numerous individuals, and many believe our manifesto is pragmatic and feasible,” Modi noted.<\/p>\n
In a conversation with Rina Dey, a booth worker from Kasba in south Kolkata, Modi inquired about the sentiments of the local populace. While acknowledging that there was anger among the residents, women expressed concerns regarding their safety. “Compile a list of crimes occurring in your locality and inform the public that these incidents are happening with the tacit approval of TMC leaders. Additionally, organize small gatherings for women to discuss significant crimes against them, such as the law college incident and the Sandeshkhali case. Make it clear that if the TMC regains power, such incidents could recur,” Modi advised the booth workers.<\/p>\n
He also encouraged them to connect with families of young people who have left West Bengal in search of employment. “People initially voted for the TMC to escape the oppressive rule of the Left Front, but the current regime has exceeded the limits of the previous government, instilling fear among the populace. Corruption and syndicates are rampant,” Modi remarked.<\/p>\n
After a booth worker from Darjeeling raised concerns regarding the challenges faced by tea garden laborers, Modi assured them that the benefits provided to tea workers in Assam would also be extended to their counterparts in West Bengal. “The rights of tea workers will be upheld,” he affirmed.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister urged party workers to remind West Bengal’s citizens of the state’s historical status as an industrial leader. “However, the emergence of the syndicate raj has made it increasingly difficult to operate,” he added.<\/p>\n
Addressing the plight of potato farmers suffering losses due to oversupply, Modi stated, “Farmers have reported that the TMC syndicate exploited them by purchasing potatoes at Rs 2 and reselling them at Rs 25. This exploitation has driven some farmers to despair, while corrupt leaders and syndicates focus on their own luxury. It is essential to convey to the public that in a BJP-governed state, there will be no syndicate raj, allowing businesses to thrive freely.”<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister advised the workers to engage with potato farmers, factory employees, and convey that industries flourish in environments free from fear. “Conduct meetings targeting youth, first-time voters, and women. Emphasize that unrest and riots deter industrial growth. Who would choose to invest in a chaotic setting?” he asked.<\/p>\n
