During a session in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal opted to present his own poetic creation while discussing the Delimitation and Constitution Amendment Bills, rather than citing well-known Hindi and Urdu couplets as many of his colleagues did. Concluding his address, Meghwal, who also identifies as an author, highlighted a book he penned about his wife titled ‘Ek safar hamsafar ke sath’. He humorously remarked, “I am the author and my wife is the subject.” Following this, he recited his poem “Hamari aan hai naari, hamaari shaan hai naari,” which was met with applause from fellow party members. When an Opposition member tried to interject, Speaker Om Birla light-heartedly responded, “If you interrupt, you’ll have to listen to one more poem,” eliciting laughter throughout the assembly.
Among the notable attendees at the Parliament on Thursday were a group of women representing various sectors, invited by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju from his Lok Sabha constituency of Arunachal West. Clad in traditional attire, these special guests were present to observe the discussions surrounding the Nari Shakti Adhiniyam Bill.
