Sri Lanka Sees Inflation Rise to 2.2% in March 2026

FINANCIAL CHRONICLE – According to data released by the state statistics office, Sri Lanka’s inflation rate, as indicated by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), stood at 2.2 percent for March 2026.

The CCPI, a key measure of inflation, increased by 0.5 percent in March, climbing to 195.8 points from 195.3 points in February.

The Department of Census and Statistics noted, “This indicates a rise in the expenditure value of the ‘Market Basket’ by Rs 451.99.”

Furthermore, the month-to-month fluctuations were influenced by a 0.27 percent decline in food prices, while non-food items saw an increase of 0.52 percent. (Colombo/Mar31/2026)
