The passing of renowned singer Asha Bhosle has left a profound impact on both the music and film communities. Numerous celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Kajol, and Akshay Kumar, expressed their condolences through social media, while many others visited her home to bid farewell. Notably, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has shared a touching tribute to Bhosle on his blog.
In his latest blog entry, titled ‘Sorrow and Grief…’, Amitabh Bachchan reflected on the loss, stating, “An entire era, an incredible, phenomenal, astounding, prodigious presence… lost yesterday. The iconic, legendary Asha Bhosle Ji has left us. In immense grief… Her versatility in giving life to every song she sang has ascended to the heavens, leaving us with a vast collection of timeless music. Though her physical presence has departed, her spirit will forever remain with us. Her voice, the essence, will be immortalized.” He concluded his post with a note of profound sorrow.
This isn’t the first instance of Amitabh Bachchan commemorating Asha Bhosle; in 2020, he shared a rare photograph of her with her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, on X.
Cricketer and musician Brett Lee also expressed his heartfelt sentiments regarding Bhosle. Posting several photos with the singer on Instagram, he recalled, “I had the pleasure of writing and recording ‘You’re the One for Me’ with Asha Bhosle back in 2006. It’s something I’ll always be incredibly grateful for. What lingered with me was not just her remarkable talent, but her kindness and humility. Despite her immense achievements, she radiated warmth and generosity. My thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time. I consider myself fortunate to have shared even a fleeting moment with someone so extraordinary. Her legacy will undoubtedly endure for generations to come.”
British artist Boy George also took to social media to honor Bhosle, stating, “God bless the amazing Asha Bhosle, who provided the glorious vocals on ‘Bow Down Mister.’ Rest in peace; your voice was like silk.”
Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday morning at Breach Candy Hospital due to multi-organ failure. She had been admitted the previous evening after experiencing exhaustion and a chest infection.
At the age of 92, Bhosle’s illustrious career spanned over eight decades, during which she recorded more than 12,000 songs in various languages and genres.
The final rites for Asha Bhosle are scheduled to take place today at 4 PM at the Shivaji Park crematorium, where she will be honored with full state honors.
