Delhi Chief Minister Launches 2026 School Entrance Examination Today: Anticipated Result Announcement Timeline

The Chief Minister SHRI School Entrance Test 2026 was administered today, April 13, by the Delhi Department of Education. This examination is designed for students seeking admission to Classes 6 and 9 for the academic year 2026-27. Conducted between 11:30 AM and 2 PM, the test took place in 75 selected schools throughout the national capital.

As stated by the Directorate of Education, the entrance tests are being held in 75 designated ‘CM SHRI’ schools, which comprise 18 girls’ institutions, 5 boys’ schools, and 52 co-educational facilities. This effort is part of the larger CM SHRI Schools initiative, introduced earlier this year, which aims to enhance the infrastructure of government schools and provide a modern, skills-based educational framework.

Students who participated in today’s examination can anticipate the announcement of results for Classes 6 and 9 by April 30, 2026. The entrance test for Class 11 is set for May 7, from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, with results expected to be released by May 25, 2026. Admit cards for Class 11 will be available on May 1 through the official Edudel portal.

Following the release of results, the admission process will proceed with the creation of a merit list and school assignments. For candidates applying to the residential Shaheed Bhagat Singh CM SHRI School, a second round will be required, consisting of a physical and medical fitness assessment. Final selection will rely on the cumulative performance from both rounds.

According to the admission criteria, eligibility is limited to students residing in Delhi who have attended recognized schools in the capital during the 2025-26 academic year. This applies to those who have completed Class 5 (for Class 6), Class 8 (for Class 9), and Class 10 (for Class 11).

To promote inclusivity, at least 50% of the available seats are reserved for students from government schools, including those under the Directorate of Education, MCD, NDMC, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and government-aided institutions in Delhi.

The minimum qualifying mark for inclusion in the merit list is set at 25% for candidates in the General category, with a 5% concession granted to those in reserved categories.

The admission processes vary slightly across the three classes:

  • For Class 6, students will receive school placements only if they have selected those institutions in their application and meet the required cutoff.
  • For Class 9, a unified merit list will be compiled, and allocations will be based on scores, category, and the three preferences indicated by the applicants.
  • For Class 11, candidates must select three school preferences along with their stream choices, which include STEM-focused courses (Paper I) and options such as Finance, Humanities, and Performing & Visual Arts (Paper II).
