Individual faces charges for reportedly launching a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

A man from Texas has been charged for allegedly traveling to California with the intent to launch a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, as revealed in court documents made public on Monday.

The accused, identified as Daniel Moreno-Gama, was reportedly recorded by surveillance cameras outside Altman’s residence in San Francisco, according to the court filings.

On Friday at approximately 4 a.m., Moreno-Gama is said to have “thrown an incendiary destructive device” at the CEO’s house, igniting a fire on an exterior gate, as reported by the San Francisco Police Department. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

The individual was apprehended about an hour later near OpenAI’s headquarters, where he allegedly made threats to set the building ablaze, according to law enforcement authorities.

Reports indicate that Moreno-Gama, who was found to have kerosene in his backpack, attempted to smash the building’s glass with a chair, based on court records.

Federal prosecutors have noted the discovery of a document in which Moreno-Gama purportedly conveyed anti-executive sentiments directed at AI leaders.

In addition, he reportedly had a list containing names and addresses of various board members, CEOs of AI firms, and investors.

According to court documents, “MORENO-GAMA stated he ‘killed/attempted to kill’ Victim-1.” He also wrote, “If I am going to advocate for others to kill and commit crimes, then I must lead by example and show that I am fully sincere in my message.”

In an unrelated incident, law enforcement reported that two individuals have been arrested for allegedly firing shots at Altman’s residence on Sunday morning.
