Michael Ferguson, the former deputy premier of Tasmania, recently recounted an incident where his vehicle collided with a black cow while traveling along the Midland Highway on Thursday night. In a social media update, he assured followers of his safety following the accident and shared a biblical reference.
Mr. Ferguson expressed gratitude towards Tasmania Police and the medical staff at Launceston General Hospital for their assistance after the crash. He described the incident as a serious accident that occurred while he was returning home from parliamentary duties in the northern part of the state.
In his post, he stated, “My car struck a black cow in the middle of my lane. The car is wrecked, but thankfully, I am safe,” and included an image showcasing the damage to his vehicle’s undercarriage.
He also extended his thanks to a local towing service and emphasized his appreciation for the supportive messages he received. “I am very grateful for the many messages of support and to Tasmania Police for their calm and professional response. Wonderful people,” he noted.
Mr. Ferguson shared a message of faith, stating, “I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me,” and quoted Psalm 16:8–9 to express his relief and gratitude for his safety.
Currently serving as the Liberal Member for Bass, Mr. Ferguson held the position of deputy premier from 2022 until 2024.
