Shah Rukh Khan Stands Up for Upasana Singh, Rejecting Kapil Sharma’s Jokes: ‘I Won’t Label Her as Ugly’

Shah Rukh Khan has captivated audiences with his performances, and those who have had the opportunity to interact with him often describe him as equally enchanting and affable in real life. Upasana Singh, a well-known figure in the television industry, shared a memorable encounter she had with the Bollywood icon while filming for The Kapil Sharma Show. During this experience, she noted how Khan declined to follow host Kapil Sharma’s suggestion to insult her character in a comedic skit.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Singh recounted that during the show, Kapil prompted Shah Rukh to make fun of her character, which was portrayed as significantly older than his character, highlighting her appearance in a less than flattering way. However, Khan responded with kindness, stating, “Why would I tell her she looks ugly?” Singh praised his attitude, recalling how he expressed his admiration for her, saying, “Upasana, how could I possibly tell you that you look like that?”

She elaborated on the humorous incident that occurred during the skit, explaining, “In these gags, we only know our lines and are unaware of what the other actor might say. When I jokingly asked him, ‘You are so handsome, will you marry me?’ he surprised me by saying, ‘Yes, I will.’ He completely flipped the scene, and I was taken aback. I responded, ‘You love everyone, will you not love me?’ to which he replied, ‘Come, I will kiss you.’ Kapil, who had expected the scene to go differently, was left bewildered by the exchange.”

For those unfamiliar, Upasana Singh has established herself in the television landscape, having made appearances on The Kapil Sharma Show in various comedic roles, including that of ‘Twinkle’, a neighbor to ‘Kappu’, and a longtime friend of ‘Dr. Mashoor Gulati’.

On the professional front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently working on his upcoming film titled King, which features Abhishek Bachchan and his daughter Suhana Khan. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously directed Khan in the blockbuster Pathaan.
