A seismic event measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was detected near Silver Springs, Nevada, on Monday evening, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Initially recorded as a 5.5 magnitude tremor, the USGS later adjusted its classification back to 5.7.
The quake struck at roughly 6:30 p.m. local time, occurring at a depth of around 6 miles, according to the agency’s data.
The epicenter was located approximately 11 miles southeast of Silver Springs, within Lyon County. For context, Silver Springs is situated just over 60 miles southeast of Reno.
Lyon County officials have stated that there were no significant injuries or damages reported as a result of the earthquake.
