A significant blaze at a resort on Ashvem Beach in North Goa has led to the total destruction of six cottages, as reported by the news agency PTI.
A police official, speaking to PTI, indicated that the fire broke out near the Ajoba Temple at approximately 8:45 AM on Thursday. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries as a result of the incident.
Initial assessments from local MLA Jit Arolkar point to a short circuit in the resort’s generator room as the likely cause of the fire. Furthermore, he mentioned that authorities are looking into whether the resort possessed the necessary fire safety permits and “no-objection” certificates.
Firefighting crews from Mapusa and Pernem quickly arrived at the location to manage and extinguish the flames.
