The police in Madhya Pradesh have filed charges against Dinesh Lodhi, the son of BJP MLA Pritam Singh Lodhi, following an incident where he allegedly struck five individuals with his vehicle on Thursday morning, resulting in injuries to all victims.
The collision took place around 7:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the Karera police station. Eyewitness accounts reveal that the speeding vehicle hit three laborers on a motorcycle and two women who were walking along the street. The injured parties include Sanjay Parihar, Ashish Parihar, and Anshul Parihar (the motorcyclists on their way to work in Thanra village), along with two young women walking nearby.
According to the complainants, the Thar vehicle, which bore markings suggesting affiliation with the MLA’s family, collided with them from behind without allowing them the chance to react.
Several of the victims sustained injuries and were promptly transported to a medical facility for care.
Authorities have initiated a First Information Report (FIR) against Dinesh Lodhi, citing relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 281, which pertains to reckless driving on public roads. A senior police official stated, “We have secured the vehicle involved in the incident. Dinesh Lodhi has not been arrested yet.”
In response to the incident, Pritam Singh Lodhi, the current BJP MLA, emphasized to the police that no individual is above the law and that appropriate measures should be taken, even if the accused is his own son. “For an MLA, the public is of utmost importance. I trust that the police will ensure justice for the victims in Karera,” remarked MLA Lodhi.
Dinesh Lodhi’s legal troubles are not new; shortly after Pritam Lodhi’s victory in the Pichhore assembly elections, Dinesh was charged with criminal intimidation in Gwalior in 2023. Subsequently, in January 2024, he was arrested on an attempted murder charge stemming from an incident where he collided with a two-wheeler using his SUV on the night of December 31.
