Trump warns China of a potential 50% tariff in response to arms support for Iran.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump issued a warning to China, threatening to impose a substantial 50% tariff if the country were to supply weapons or military aid to Iran amidst the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

During a Fox News interview, when asked if his previous tariff warning aimed specifically at China, Trump confirmed, stating, “Yes, China and potentially others. But specifically, yes, China is included.”

Trump expressed skepticism about reports suggesting that China might be providing shoulder missiles to Iran. He mentioned, “I doubt they would do that because I have a relationship and I think they wouldn’t do that, but maybe they did a little bit at the beginning, but I don’t think they would anymore. But if we catch them doing that, they get a 50% tariff.”

Regarding negotiations with Iran, Trump predicted that Tehran would eventually return to the negotiating table, asserting he could decisively address the situation in a single day. “I predict they come back and they give us everything we want,” he told Fox anchor Maria Bartiromo, adding, “I want everything… They have no cards.”

The president also defended his controversial statement from the previous week, in which he claimed that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” He asserted he was “fine with it,” suggesting that such threats were effective in bringing Iran to negotiations. “When I say about a civilization, it really has changed. It really has. But think of it. They’re allowed to say, ‘Death to America. Death to this,’” Trump remarked. He concluded, “That statement got them to the bargaining table, and they haven’t left it.”

This warning follows unsuccessful talks between U.S. and Iranian negotiators in Islamabad, which wrapped up on Sunday and put the two-week ceasefire, set to expire on April 22, in jeopardy.
