In the context of ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, social media has become a battleground for sharp exchanges. Recently, the Iranian Consulate General in Mumbai issued a statement emphasizing Iran’s strategic control over the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial waterway for global energy transportation and naval operations.
On the platform X, the consulate remarked on the significance of the Strait, stating, “Bro forgot that even after ‘smashing fleets’, control of the Strait of #Hormuz decides the game,” in reference to its strategic importance.
This comment came after reports indicated that a deadline imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a naval blockade had passed. Following the collapse of high-level peace discussions in Islamabad, it has been suggested that U.S. military operations have begun to restrict maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports.
In response to U.S. threats, the consulate dismissed them by stating in Hindi, “Baaki sab filmy dialogue hai boss” (The rest are merely cinematic lines).
Additionally, Iran characterized its rapid-response naval units as the “red bees of the Persian Gulf,” sharing a video that showcased missile launches and swarm tactics. Reacting to this, the Iranian Consulate in Mumbai referenced a line from a film by Shah Rukh Khan, pointing out the irony in Trump’s previous assertions that Iran’s naval capabilities were diminished. They remarked, “Funny how #Trump kept claiming #Iran’s navy was ‘finished’… now they’re about to find out how a swarm can pin you down real quick….Abhi toh sirf trailer hai, picture abhi baaki hai” (This is just the trailer; the movie is yet to come).
Amidst these exchanges, President Trump took to social media to declare, “Iran’s Navy is lying at the bottom of the sea, completely obliterated… If any of these ships come anywhere close to our BLOCKADE, they will be immediately ELIMINATED.” His comments sparked a wave of memes, with Iran’s response coming from the Iranian Embassy in South Africa, which shared an AI-generated video of Trump singing a song about the blockade.
Along with this, another post humorously depicted Trump as a pirate, labeling him as “The miserable pirates of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.”
