Kritika Kamra and Gaurav Kapur recently celebrated their marriage in a private ceremony approximately a month ago. Following their announcement on social media, their wedding photographer shared a touching video from the event, which quickly gained popularity as fans were moved by the emotional moment when Gaurav teared up as Kritika walked down the aisle. In a recent interview with SCREEN, Kritika discussed her relationship with Gaurav and revealed that their wedding was not extensively planned.
Reflecting on the significant choice to marry, Kritika stated, “We have known each other for some time, and our feelings gradually evolved into a mutual certainty about this step. To me, marriage had always seemed monumental, but when I realized he was the one for me—my heart and mind agreed—it felt effortless.”
She continued, “We both recognized that we weren’t the type to spend months organizing a wedding or opt for an extravagant destination celebration. Our excitement was about starting our lives together, so we simply wanted a two-day celebration with our closest friends and family at home.”
Remarkably, Kritika and Gaurav returned to their work commitments just a week after their understated registrar wedding. “We wanted to celebrate in the city that holds significance for us. It was meaningful to us, and that’s exactly what we did. We were engaged in our work leading up to the wedding and resumed our routines shortly after, making the transition quite smooth,” she explained.
They approached the wedding without any specific plans for key moments. “We didn’t rush or prepare extensively; there were no elaborate rituals or schedules. Everything unfolded naturally. I noticed my dad seemed a bit left out, so I made sure to share a moment with him. There wasn’t even a planned entry; it all just developed spontaneously,” she recounted.
When asked about the endearing moment when Gaurav was visibly moved, Kritika remarked, “I was in disbelief. There was something uniquely cinematic about that day. The video team captured it beautifully, and it spread widely. Now, we have strangers stopping us on the street to express how touching it was.”
The 37-year-old actress elaborated, “Nothing was orchestrated; we were just in a comforting environment surrounded by loved ones. The energy was palpable. I was blissfully preparing with my mother and friends, so I encountered others before I saw Gaurav. When I finally looked at him, I noticed tears in his eyes. I had seen him vulnerable before, but not in this way. I thought I’d be the one crying, but seeing him like that left me astonished. It was a whirlwind of emotions, a truly joyful day. I was pleasantly surprised by his reaction, and now we all tease him about his tears.”
Kritika, currently promoting her forthcoming Prime Video series “Matka King” alongside Vijay Varma, also shared her reasons for joining the project. “There were two main factors—firstly, this is Nagraj Manjule’s debut web series, and I’ve admired his work for some time. I had to audition for the role, and the subject intrigued me; I wanted to shed light on the phenomenon of Matka, which I wasn’t familiar with. Most importantly, my character is compelling and drives the storyline. She is a Parsi girl from South Bombay, navigating her own personal journey,” she explained.
When probed about the types of roles she wishes to undertake in the future, she responded, “I have received some exciting offers, but I haven’t yet done a full-fledged commercial film. However, I know that for me to say yes to a commercial film, it must be substantial and on a grand scale. I would love to participate in a classic romantic film.”
