The results for the SSLC examinations in Kerala are expected to be released during the third week of May, while the results for the second-year higher secondary examinations will be unveiled on May 25. This announcement was made by Education Minister V Sivankutty on Thursday. The minister also indicated that board examinations planned for students in the Gulf region have been canceled due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, leading the state to implement an alternative assessment strategy for those impacted students.
During a press conference on Thursday, Minister Sivankutty provided an update on both the SSLC and plus two examinations, as well as the cancellation of board exams for students in West Asia.
In light of the canceled examinations in the Gulf, 633 SSLC students will have their results determined by the marks they attained in their model or term exams, along with an allocation of grace marks. For the 592 students who were preparing to sit for their second-year higher secondary exams, their scores from the first year will be considered, in addition to Continuous Evaluation (CE) scores and practical marks from the second year.
These measures will also assist Kerala students who were in the Gulf for any purpose and became stranded due to the conflict. However, eligibility for these provisions will depend on the verification of original hall tickets, visas, and passports by school principals, who will also confirm the examinations that were missed during the students’ time in the region. Students who are not satisfied with the results of their assessments will have the opportunity to take improvement exams when they are offered in the future, the minister noted.
In response to issues raised regarding the continuous assessment system in schools, the minister recognized complaints indicating that teachers frequently assign marks without a full understanding of the system’s intent. To enhance transparency, assessment results will now be required to be displayed on school notice boards, and all related grievances will be directed to school-level monitoring committees for further examination.
Additionally, Sivankutty announced a new study support initiative for government school students in Classes 5 to 9 who have not achieved at least 30 percent in their written exams. This program, for which comprehensive guidelines have been provided to the Director of General Education, is scheduled to take place from April 20 to 27, 2026. Following this period, special examinations at the school level will be conducted, after which a promotion list will be published.
