The Hume Freeway is currently shut down in both directions due to a serious multi-vehicle accident near Violet Town in the northeastern region of Victoria.
According to Victoria Police, the incident involved a B-double truck and several other vehicles.
The response to the situation includes personnel from the Country Fire Authority (CFA), Victoria Police, State Emergency Service (SES), Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), and Ambulance Victoria.
The CFA reported that six of its units arrived at the scene after receiving notifications of the crash shortly before 1:30 PM.
VicTraffic has advised northbound drivers to take a detour via the Goulburn Valley Highway at Seymour.
For those traveling southbound, the recommendation is to exit at Violet Town and divert through Murchison-Violet Town Road and the Goulburn Valley Highway.
