An 18-year-old individual has been charged with attempted murder following a violent home invasion on the Gold Coast that resulted in a man being hospitalized.

Authorities report that the incident occurred around 4 AM yesterday when the suspect allegedly broke into a residence located on Plateau Crescent in Carrara, waking the occupants.

During the intrusion, a 38-year-old man and his partner, aged 46, confronted the intruder, who reportedly attacked them with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds before fleeing the scene.

The 38-year-old victim was quickly transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he is currently in serious but stable condition. His partner sustained only minor injuries.

Following a thorough investigation, law enforcement apprehended the 18-year-old later on and charged him with one count of attempted murder, assault occasioning bodily harm, and various weapon-related offenses.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court later today.
