Phil Collins Takes Center Stage as INXS Bows Out in 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Reveal

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has unveiled its list of inductees for 2026, featuring notable artists such as Phil Collins, Billy Idol, and Joy Division/New Order. This year’s ceremony is set to take place in November.

One significant omission from this year’s list is INXS, who were nominated but ultimately did not secure a spot in the Hall of Fame.

This year’s class also includes first-time nominees Wu-Tang Clan and the late Luther Vandross, who passed away in 2005. A panel comprising over 1,200 musicians, historians, and industry experts participated in the voting process to finalize the inductee list.

To qualify for induction, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to their nomination. This year, a record total of six British artists have been recognized among the inductees.

Phil Collins is being honored as a solo artist, having previously been inducted as a member of Genesis. Additionally, this year’s class features several hip-hop acts.

The announcement of the inductees was made during an episode of American Idol. Other nominees who did not make the final cut include Mariah Carey, Shakira, Lauryn Hill, Jeff Buckley, New Edition, Pink, and Melissa Etheridge.

The induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 14, and includes four categories: the performer category, along with three special committee categories—early influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

The full list of 2026 inductees comprises Joy Division/New Order, among others.
