On April 14, 2025, Kim visited her son Shaine Dowd’s home in Ambarvale, aiming to reconnect after years of limited contact. Tragically, this visit would become her last. According to her daughter, Cassandra Dowd, had they been aware of the risks involved, they would have never allowed her to go there, emphasizing that she would have been safer at home.
Kim succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained during an incident where multiple shots were fired at her son’s residence. Following the event, three individuals were arrested, and police indicated that the intended target was someone else entirely. “She was our mother, a happy and loving person who was clearly not involved in any wrongdoing,” Cassandra shared, expressing the profound loss felt by the family. The void left by her death is palpable, as they navigate significant life events such as births and graduations without her presence, a reality they will grapple with indefinitely.

For instance, Chris Baghsarian, an 85-year-old grandfather, was reportedly kidnapped from his North Ryde home, only to be tortured and discarded, with authorities claiming the actual target lived nearby.
